The city of Kerns appeared in 1860s as a camp of animal catchers. Nowadays Kerns is a Great Barrier Reef symbol, the eighth wonder of the world. This city is “fed” by the sea. It is situated near the foot of mountains, which rise up from the banks and are rich in rainforests.

It looks like just in one night Kerns instead of being a small province town decided to become a bright light! Many lovers of extreme sports are attracted here: riding horses, flights on hang-gliders, parachute jumping, swimming the rivers and so on – it is all provided and is very popular here. You can get to the Great Barrier Reef from Kerns easily, because it’s not far from the city. Enjoy the relaxation on exotic islands, exciting fishing and incredible sunshine and weather!

The historical part of Kerns includes only a few blocks, the other part of it is a young developing city. Except the hotel region, Kerns continues living his calm and nice rhythm. Time stops here, the problems are far, far away, and there are only happy people who greet you in the streets. Kerns is very friendly to newcomers and tourists. There aren’t any high buildings here.

Kerns is the capital of the far north of Queensland state. It became more popular after the international airport was built.

In the suburb of Kerns you can rest on the beaches, but if you want to get a full joy, you’d better head for local islands. For example, go to Tiapukai park to know the culture of local aborigines, or visit the Plateau of Atherton, one of the most beautiful places. Don’t forget to see the oldest trees – Twin Kauri!

In the Milaa Milaa you’ll enjoy the waterfall system. Australia is famous for them.

Go to Port Douglas and enjoy shopping, eating in inexpensive small restaurants and playing golf. This place is really like heaven on Earth!

So – go to Kerns and rest with your body and soul!
